we are in kerrvile and the rear transfer case seal has let go.

Anyone know if it's the same as the 80?

No one in town seems to have it including toyota.

832-722-4815 if you have any ideas!

Sorry to hear that man, yes they are the same, part number: 90311-50014

You might check Performance Cruisers in Boerne....don't think they necessarily stock parts like that, but they're somewhat close and may be worth a shot.

So I may be reading the parts diagram wrong, but it looks to me like 90311-50014 is the front seal and 90311-58008 is the rear seal. Both look to be the same as on the 80's. Maybe one of the MUD sponsor vendors could overnight one.

Wow... This makes me glad that I support this site...

Sam, I can't do anything to help you guys other than hope you are able to get back on the road!
See you guys next week!

Sam-I have a racing buddy in San Antonio that might be able to help or point you in the right direction. Let us know if you have it fixed-PM me if you want me to try and help out.
Also let us know if the part was the same as the 80 or the part number. I'm not aware if this is very common and wonder why it happened. Anyone else seen this before as I'm wondering if this is a part to stock in the truck spares?

Pretty sure tcase has to come out to replace the seal. Not really a trail fix, at least that I could do. I wouldn't worry about carrying this seal in the "kit".

You can take the output nose off without removing the t-case. But you're still going to need a press and press tools to swap in the new seal...

Based upon my experience a failing t-case seal (along with rear pinion seal) is helped along after bouts of wading through deep muddy, gritty soupy water. IH8MUD.

Thank you to everyone that reached out!

fri night I pulled the tail housing off the transfer case so sat morning when the part arrived from toyota we could get back on the road quick.

Well, the idiot ordered the wrong part after I checked with him TWICE on Friday. Mistakes happen, but when he didn't give a s*** about it sat morning he became an idiot. Red mccombs toyota San Antonio. Screw you.

To top it off, woke up to a flat tire sat morning. Didn't have my size (295/75/16). And the set I have now refuse to balance with a road force machine. SO I HAD TO BUY SOME NEW TIRES! 285 BFG K02.

The good news is I cleaned the existing seal, greased the hell out of it and this post is coming from ouray colorado and the seal is still dry!

Thanks again everyone, I'll see a few of you later this week. Ouray is pretty awesome, but be prepared that part of the road between ironton and Ouray failed and it goes down to 1 lane.

Just as a further heads up, I have replaced this seal twice before. Both times after some serious mud, the last time was a year ago.

A couple weeks ago i got her stuck in water and mud up to the bottom of the doors. Considering the amount of sand I cleaned out of the seal my guess that was the culprit.

Good news is the seal still looked new once cleaned.

Removing the tail housing and getting access to the seal is pretty easy, could be a trail repair. I always just use my axle socket and careful tapping to get the new seal in place.

Also, I'm really glad I keep a tube of the red toyota sealant with me. It's $30 from the dealer, but is worth every penny.

Noob question.

So extending the breathers would not help in preventing this from occurring? Assuming you have already done this?

Sam, glad to hear you're back in the game! Have fun this year, we are sorry to be missing it. The family and I were talking at dinner last night....this time last year we had just gotten into Denver, dropped our gear off at La Quinta and were heading to Wahoo Fish Taco!
