anybody good at troubleshooting an RS3000 alarm/entry problem???

i have a 1996 80 with a self installed RS3000 alarm kit, bought back in 2003 when i bought the rig to replace an aftermarket keyless entry/alarm that was a piece o sh*t.

worked fine until this past saturday, when i used the truck for a grocery store run instead of my bmw.
it sat quite a bit cause its been real warm and fuzzy here , almost not winter like at all, so i decided she needed a little run anyways.

i had been in the truck and it was unlocked for several days, maybe a week before this trip, and that last time unlocking it was fine. now when i go to lock with the fob, i get the interior lights flashing, along with the security led, but no door "lock" function, just a "clicking" in the drivers footwell, and the exterior markers show just a barely legible flash. sometimes the chirp will sound but mostly not, and no matter if it does , still no action of the door "lock" mechinism.

if i use the key in the door all the doors lock/unlock electrically except the rear hatch, so im wondering if this rear hatch solenoid could be causing the RS3000 module to malfunction, or maybe the headlight "off" relay for when u leave the headlights on but they turn off when you turn the ignition off.

i have a electronic copy of the fsm, but i havent been able to find that particular usb drive i stored it on yet, so bear with me as i try to figure this out, plus it started snowing yesterday and its turned cold as hell, so im driving her until the weather gets better, my 330ci has wide rear tires and rear wheel drive and does not like the cold anyways.

thanks for any help/sugestions/ideas

ok, so i found my fsm files , but i cant find any info in them for the rs3000, and i had a zip file for that but it must be corrupted because it wont open.

on the power door locks, everthing is as normal according to the fsm, so i will have to dig deeper into the keyless/alarm functions. the locks work with the control panel[master] and the door key switch, ,so im still looking.......

does anyone know what the files are named for the alarm troubleshooting in the fsm?

thanks

Slee's site has a copy of the RS3000 docs that you can download.

It's not in the FSM as it was port installed.

Rechecked the door lock operation and all is working as it should
with the door panel controls and the keyswitch. Rear hatch locks
/unlocks electrically with the lock button on the door panel
so im looking at the rs3000 module as soon as i can get a copy of the
manual

Check the alarm's wiring harness

I have the keyless entry and not the RS3000 but I had normal functioning everything except locking doors with the key fob. I discovered the wiring harness coming from under the seat contains very weak splicing. The red wire with the green (or was it blue?) tracer coming from the controller is divided into two in the wiring harness. The connection is made with tape only and was very deteriorated. After the division, each side goes to each of the 8 pin connectors in the side kick panel. A test light showed one side bright and the other weak. The corroded junction was just in front of the driver's seat. HTH

thanks, yea its supposed to warm up here this weekend, and if it does im gonna pull the drivers seat and kickpanel to look into the wiring/module/relay etc.

I know this sounds stupid, but sounds like the symptoms of a nearly dead battery. Many alarms won't work when the voltage isn't correct, like a low battery. Will the car start on its own? low lights, sometimes chirping and not unlocking. All of these happen when the alarm doesn't see i think at least 9v. Also power to the alarm unit its self could be loose or corroded. This would give insufficient power to the flashers, siren and locks (unless your using a relay for each of the three).

sorry about the delay, the landcruiser has sat all summer unused.
now downloaded the slee files and will attempt to fix the alarm problem,
the battery is good, truck starts and runs just fine, i loaned it to a buddy previous to the alarm failure and he had a problem with the power seat, and ended up turning the jack screw with pliers to get the seat back, before i could get to his house and fix it correctly, so i am betting he messed up the wiring under the seat.

i am just now hearing the whole story, jeez i will never loan it to anyone again..........

I sure wish someone knew more about these systems, I know they are considered junk, but I have no desire to let somebody hack this thing up.
I installed this from a "official" kit and it worked flawlessly for ever and a day. I don't want/need all the stuff the new ones come with, really just miss my keyless entry, but for the life of me I cant get the doors to lock/unlock now.

I have peeled back the covering of the harness from the "brain" to the 8 pin lock/unlock connector looking for an obvious flaw but so far I cant find any problems in the wiring, yet it will flash the lights and if the button is held will activate the horn "panic" signal, however it does not trigger the locks at all......I know I should just move on, but other needs must be addressed first, so no keyless lock/unlock for me........

I even tried a second brain, and it acts normal when programming the fob, but then doesn't "work" when using the programmed fob, except that the "panic" function also works, so I am crying mercy at the moment.

Any luck on this?

I am having the exact same issues. Panic button sets off alarm, but the fob will not lock or u lock the doors.

1994 landcruiser with the TVSS system.
