Rough turning over (1 Viewer)

Top of the morning,
I was wondering if anyone else experienced rough starting in their LC. By rough I mean that the whole truck vibrates at the moment it turns over. When I replaced the air filter it seemed to diminish slightly, but this morning the shake was back in full force. It has always performed this way (in warm and cold weather), and at first I thought that this was the norm. It also tends to sort of 'choke' when turned off and started again...say for example when I run to a store and it sits for only a few minutes. Fuel pump, throttle body, ...? I hope I painted a clear picture. Which reminds me, as soon as I get my hands on a digital camera I'll post some pics.

Also, here's my contribution: PIAA Silicone wipers. These things are probably old hat to you folks, but I highly recommend them.

Open your checkbook and send a bit less than $95 to Cdan here on the forum for a new rubber pleated hose connecting your air cleaner to the engine's intake. Someone's cracked it from simply heaving up on it vs correctly disconnecting it to open the air cleaner. It will be cracked on the bottom of this thick tube, in one of the pleats. Several wraps of duct tape will be a temporary fix if you make it air tight. I'll bet you a cup of coffee on it.

Given the fact that I did properly disconnect the hose before replacing the air filter, I questioned your diagnosis...but I checked anyway. There's nothing wrong with the hose but thanks anyway.

I just purchsed a '97 FZJ80 with 103K on the ticker and it does the same thing. It was he first thing I noticed when I fired it up the day after getting it home. My FJ40 with over 200K miles starts smoother and quicker. First things that came to mind were throttle body, starter and motor mounts.
Or...it could just be normal.

Same thing in my newly purchsed 95 FZJ80 with 127k miles!! Wonder if my engine mounts are bad

YOu might try a dose of injector cleaner. One or more might be dripping by giving you a rich start.
