Hey guys I haven't got a Silver Star yet but I am hoping to get one shortly, the Paypal thing is completely foreign to me. Thanks Tiammax and Bosshog for the comments on the Cruiser!

How's the build going Eli.

Was that your rig that we saw parked up in Vernon a couple of weekends ago? I thouht we recognized it from 'Mud'. It was a cold day for going topless!

It was cold a cold day, but we wanted to take advantage of the good road conditions. The run on the highway was good for clearing out the cobwebs and for getting a charge into the battery.

I had no problems working with the aluminum body. At the time of the build I was a customer of Aqualu, now I work for them handling their Tech. and dealer support. If I do another build I will probably choose to powder coat the body rather than paint because of the cost difference. The only difference with painting aluminum is the application of an etching style primer to bite into the material. Powder coating is durable, cost effective and now they can re-create almost any colour, solid or metallic. We now offer the '40' style body in a 10", 22" and 27" stretched versions which may or may not work with the wheelbase of the frame that you have.

I did see the stretched versions listed. Do you have pics of the cabs? What would it cost to PC a body? Do they come ready to PC or need work bc you can not PC filler. Do you do any custom work, ie extended body with 4 doors?

personal email for pics: mark@paverstone.com

If you email me at work I have some shots of the 22" stretched version that I can send to you, my email is ( bmcdonald@aqualu.com ) . The bodies will require some smoothing with a flapper wheel and/or Scotch-brite discs prior to powder coating. The marks left from the penetration of the welds would be a good example. All of our bodies are 5/32"(.156") thick so there is definitely some room for massaging. As for the price of powder coating that is something that you would want to check with your local powder coater.

Great looking Cruiser. While on the subject, here's an unsolicited plug for Aqualu. I just installed their half doors, tailgate and diamond-plate quarter panels on my '77. The parts are high quality and their customer service was excellent.

I noticed you have an autometer speedo. What did you use for the VSS? Are you running the stock T/C? I installed an autometer speedo and can't seem to get it calibrated properly. It's always bouncing all over the place. I used a VSS from Downey, 4 pulse.

The Autometer speedometer that I am running is connected to the stock Toyota tranny/t-case with the stock Toyota speedo cable. The speed indicated on the gauge is incorrect but I used my Garmin to track my actual speed then I wrote down what was indicated on the gauge so I know how fast I am actually travelling. It wasn't out a great deal but it is out.
