I assume that's 4x4 Labs stuff. They make the best, period. Great choice.

Excellent ROTM. Congrats.

Top of the World trail is one of my favorites. its a short trail with a spectacular view. next time i will bring my rig instead of renting one.

I can't wait to go back.

I know the thread is a bit old now, but I loved reading through it. Great photos and great adventure.

love your build! As you know we have the same bumper, do you have any pics or info on the winch mount? I am in the process of mocking one up and I have some issues with the location of the hawse opening. It seems high on the bumper.

Yep, those are some tough angles to make work. I'll look for some build pics this afternoon.

I built a tray out of steel to weld between the frame mounts. In order to get the bumper up as close to the truck as possible I cut a 45* triangle off the front of the frame with the 45 at the bottom front tip of the frame.

The winch is mounted to a steel plate welded to the frame. Recovery hooks are welded to the bottom of that steel plate. After all that, I bolted up the bumper. I didn't want the aluminimum bumper to bear any weight.

Alignment of the slot in the bumepr was the bigest PITA. I ended up shiming the bumper up, so that I had to cut a hole in the top of the bumper for the winch brake control. In the end, the rope goes through the slot in the front of the bumper then makes about a 25* angle down when half of the rope is out. I have had a couple of ropes break since the bumper build, and I wonder if the rope alignment contributes. I used an aluminimum hawse that I bolted to the bumper.

What color code is this? im looking at re doing my 61 Sahara. think this will suit it nicely. :)

This one shows how I did the steering stabilizer mount. I had a local machine shop make the tapered piece where the shock mounts. They machined it into a small tab.

I found a piece of pipe with the same ID as the OD of the tie rod. I cut that piece of pipe in half, then welded wings on the ends. Tack some nuts to the wings, drill some holes for bolts on the other side. Tack the tab to the assembly then bolt it on the tie rod. I put a small tack on the tie rod on both sides where the assembly bolts on so that the force of the shock is transferred there. The bolts may not hold that force without those tacks.

Worked great at superlift a few weeks ago!
