Hey guys I recently took the BJ apart and refinishing everything. The PO owner had replaced the windshield at some point and when he put it back togeather he stuffed the area where the roof and valance and windshield attach. He stuffed it with closed cell insulation used in filling gaps in home window installs. He then proceeded to put as much clear silicone and Brown PRC as there was available in the nearest Home Depot.

So I have that all cleaned out and need to know which side of the window does the valance sit. I assume from the holes it then bolt to the window. I got the rubber strip from CCOT as well.

Some derection and guidance would be appreciated ;) Pics always great!

The front runner bolts to the outside of the window frame most of the rubber strip sits on the inside to form a seal on the window frame.Did you remove the front cross support ,is that what you are talking about. It has 4 or 5 rivets in it. Pics.

Thanks for that. I don't have any pics but you are right the valance or front cross member is riveted to the roof. Couple of them are out but we are redoing them and thinking of using a bit of fiberglass resin glue as well to hold that in place. No pics as it is not close by...

I,ve taken the rivets right out and cleaned the old sealant off.Get some 3/16 pop rivets and some 3/16 stainless washers and pop rivet it back on useing lots of marine sikelflex sealant im telling ya after the sealant cures you dont even need rivets.I say pop rivets cause you have to put a dab on the outside any way. I,ve also wire wheeled the sealant around the outside of the roof and used the same sealant (sikelflex ,might be spelled wrong) to waterproof it again. Good luck.
