I'm actually thinking about a basket style roof rack to go over just the cab of the 75 Series. I want one that is of suitable size to hold the spare tire. I'll probably just have the shop fabricate one for me.I know cruiserdan has a JDM basket mounted on his, using four Thule gutter mounts on the FRP top.
I really debated getting one, and didn't, and now that I've been driving my 74 for a few weeks, I wouldn't feel great about having a lot of weight up top with my lift. That coupled with the FRP top and the inherent risks in mounting anything to that and it just didn't seem worth it. I put the money into a custom rear bumper instead to carry my jerry cans.
If you're thinking about one for your 75, I would look at ARB racks, I had one on my Cherokee and it was great. Would match your bumper, too. They make short ones for pickups (probably specifically for 75s, even).
Anyway, my 2 cents.
A very kind offer and I appreciate it however my local shop has a very talented fabricator which doesn't require any shipping cost.Get me some measurements and I'll build what you want.

The roof rack noise would have to overcome the Diesel engine noise, and my loss of hearing associated with advancing age.Just be aware that some baskets/roof racks can get get a wind roar that is unbearable. When you buy an off the shelf unit ,it is less likely to suffer this than a custom unit. I met someone once who was into a 15000klm trip but turned around after 600klms from wind noise to have another roof rack fitted
I assume the spoiler do-dad perhaps reduces some of the noise. You would be surprised how load wind noise can get.
"Road Toad" would look good on a license plate.Charles
I'm sure the wing thing is to help with wind drag but racks are strange critters and can cause wind noise from any part on them but it's not like we will be breaking any speed limits in our old 2h powered road toads.![]()
To quote Spider-mans uncle, "with great horsepower, comes great noise".I have an ARB for the 73 that I never use. It came home on the top of the truck from Atlanta and I honestly did not hear any wind noise over the roar of the mighty 3B under the hood.
