I was holding my breath most the time as I went after one bolt upon another. After reading some of the unfortunate stories on here, about nutserts seizing and such, I was pretty nervous. Without any pre-application of liquid wrench etc, they all just came right out without a problem. Next I ripped off the PITA centre pcs, and took my heat gun and thumbs to the goop left behind. A couple hrs of that, and shes all prepped for Line-X. On an aside, there was only one whispy trace of rust on the roof where the one foot's lateral edge pressed beyond the paint. Beyond that all the holes we painted right up to the nutserts still :)

Until I can get there, I just covered all the holes with very heavy, 2" wide electrical type tape. First covering the nutsert with a 3/4"X3/4" pc, and then covering that pc with a pc twice the area.

So when I drive home to the condo in 75 minutes I'll be holding my breath yet again, as I attempt the underground parking. My roofrack used to graze one beam with the medium lift, and I haven't tried the underground parking since installing the 850J/863 this winter. We'll see what happens. I'll probably just open the moonroof, and peek out carefully as I slide under beams.

Pics to come after Line-X...I'll phone on my next 4 days off for an appt.

TYLER please excuse my ignorance but what is Line-X?

Perhaps it is a North American thing ..

You can see the bed of this '04 Tundra with the Line-X coating applied to the box, as a bedliner.

Thanks TYLER I see what it is, it is called speed liner over here. Doesn't it have a rough textured finish? Would that be OK for you roof? I suppose golf balls get aerodynamic advantage from a dimpled surface so maybe it works for Landcruisers too

Umm , I'm sorry ............ but you just said aerodynamic and Land Cruiser in the same sentence

:flipoff2:

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. The 80 made it into the underground this morning! I peeked thru the moonroof on the way under beams, and I'm pretty sure I have room for 36's .. ;)

I'll try and remember to take some dumb clearance pick on the way out later today...just 'cause :flipoff2:

The dimples on a golf ball come into play while the ball is spinning. Unless Ty's 80 is going end-over-end or doing a barrel roll...the rough texture of the line-x isn't going to come into play :D

I think the line-x option of the roof would provide a relatively inexpensive method of covering the holes -- detailed body work to close the holes, finish and paint would be fairly expensive.

Wow! A lift, now no gold bling, and roof rack removal?

Who are you and what have done with the real T Y L E R ? :D

Yeah it is. Ask me how I know. ;)

For starters the headliner has to come down to do the job right.

Golf balls actually create lift while going thru the air from the dimples, pretty great design.

Cars benefit from this (like the Lexus underbelly dimples). The dimples cause basically a little air cushion at the surface allowing most of the air to rush over faster.

You can see some cars (like BMW) have bumps molded in at the side rearview mirrors for the same reason.

You can think of a deep stream with a strong undertow- where there are levels of movement.

Zipp just intro'd new cycling wheels with dimples in the surface for the same reason-my brain fart for the day ;)

Here's a better explination of aero ideas

Line-X is going to make the car heavier than it already is. I'm paintin my whole truck in Durabak bedliner in a few weeks :D

You could grate cheese with that machine of yours just stick the cheese on the roof with the bread below the hatch. Close fit do not empty your load bay as you will never get it out.
