Posted this in the paint and Body section as well.

I have a fist sized dent in my roof, and am getting ready to do the repair while Im painting.

My roof liner is trashed, It has at least two rips already,
Im taking it out so i can try to knock the dent out from underneith.

I just want to know if there's any reason it can't stay out for a while, untill I move on to the interior restoration Phase of this project.

also any advice on the "de-install" so the reinstall goes smoothly?

Thanks Guys.

You will find a lot of little metal clips under the door seals. You will probaly have to remove you seat belt covers to get to them all. The metal cross bows come out pretty easy.

You could remove just the section you need to to fix the dent.

It will be a PITA to install a new one.

Thanks man,

It will be a PITA to install a new one.

Im sure,

But, Im already in too deep too look back now!

I just did a search on headliner - not "Roof liner"

Sounds tough. I have to replace my windsheild at the same time, anyway,

I'll just cut out the area where the dent is for now.

headliner is one of those jobs you farm out the upholstery guys that do it all the time. For $400 you can have a nice new one installed. Trust me when I tell you its worth every penny. I need to replace mine. 20 years of being chain smoked in, you wouldnt believe what the headliner looks like.

x2 on cutting the specific area. To get it all out you have to remove all the door and window trim. There are at least 3 metal clips around each door holding it in...

I can take some pics this weekend if you want to see how it is attached.

I had much rather install sparkplugs through the glove box or change out the oil pump though the tail pipe compared to changing out the heater core or the headliner.
