Went out to rescue a buddy a while back in my (still new to me) 100 and bent and bruised my pretty (if useless stock running boards). Now it just so happens the buddy is a welder, how good I’m not sure, but he offered to make me something if I knew what I was looking for. I already have a small lift and an ARB bar and winch. I dream about a slee rear and I do like there rock sliders, but money is an issue...so the question is... does any one have a good pattern for me to make rock sliders from? And does this sound like a good idea? Or should i simply just take a case of beer and keep saving the bottles to buy Slee?

Thanks,
Greg

If i truely needed sliders, i would go with slee. They support the IH8MUD community. Sure you could get a buddy to fab up some awesome looking sliders, but who knows if they will really protect your truck and not fold under pressure? If you were to buy the Slee Sliders you would know some of your money would be going towards a community that supports one of your hobbies/interests/loves whatever you might want to call your LandCruiser.

Then again, if money is really tight and you trust your buddy to make some sturdy sliders and he can do it at the right price, by all means go for it. Personally, i would go with the slee's....proven performance and made by a company who supports one of my interests, IH8MUD.

O.K. Loud... Are you on Christo`s payroll ? ;)

Unless you just really just want to go "custom", I would have to agree with 1LoudlX.. That Slee has the best thing going when it comes to sliders, and you are supporting one of our own

Besides...There is nothing better than buying something that you know is gonna fit and you know its gonna work as advertised... and if it doesnt Slee will make it right.

Oh
And before anyone jumps me because I dont have Slee`s on my own rig, the ONLY reason I didnt add `em was because I wanted something different than what was on any other 100 :)

Calamaridog built his own and very nice functional sliders.

Send him a PM and maybe he'll cut you a pair! :grinpimp:

Why not order the sliders from Slee, have your buddy over for the install and share the beers while doing the job.

There are several good threads from guys who fabbed their own. If a few folks linked them all up here then this could make a nice little FAQ thread.

IFRC - the fabbers said that the sliders took alot more time to build than they thought and they now understand why they don't come cheap.

I love the Slee Sliders you can bounce a Audi A-6 off of them.

Speaking from experience? If they stop an A6, wow!

I got mine for two reasons: the obvious offroad advantage in the rocks and as added side protection from the idiots in So Cal raceing on the streets in lowered Honda accords. I think Slee's sliders are just the right height to stop them cold.

Get the slee's, worth every $ on the trail and off.

Oh right... that Espresso fella... :o

Hey, when the hell did I do that? My welds are too ugly for display:o

That was the talented member up in Reno!

Note to self: Don't drink wine and Mud...

Slee........love em on my 100!

Following this thread, I checked out Slee's site. There are three different models of sliders for the 100. Does the Tube Slider model offer more protection than the two SliderSteps(tm) models?

Also, reading through the install instructions I didn't see any welding. Did you weld your Slee sliders for added strength?

They are bolt on. If you have any concerns about the strength of either Slee bolt-on sliders on a 100 you better get a 40 series;) . The step sliders are nice, not necessarily to assist getting into the cab, but when you need to reach the roof top/rack or even making it a little easier washing the wind shield. The tube style will add a little more protection for your lower door areas mainly when travelling through very large rocked terrain...other than that it's a coin toss.

And if you have an AHC equipped 100, only one type of Slee slider is available and it is the "Slidersteps."

Thanks Hoser! Is the difference in the shape of the lower doors & rocker panels? Or are there AHC kibbles and bits that get in the way?

Thanks also Spressomon. Just wondering if anyone welded in addition to the bolts.

Yup, kibbles and bits in the way.

Cool, more choices for the LX!
