Welcome!!! Where do you currently live?

You are going to be working in Rock Hill and Living in Charlotte? Or you will be working in south charlotte and thinking rock hill may be a living option?

Charlotte has a wide variation of housing prices for different areas. If school is a factor for kids that will need to be taken into account also. For the most part the more affluent areas of charlotte start in the Myers park area (just south of Uptown and spreads south east of there, south park, providence area, ballantyne, waxhaw, weddington (the last two are more rural)

Obviously the lakes Wylie, Mt Island and Norman are have pricey areas also. The area I live in (right off the Catawba river near Mt Island Lake) is still very affordable and starting to expand and go up quite fast due to the expansion of neighborhoods around the lake.

Give us a litte more info and we can give you a wealth of knowledge on the subject. Also if south charlotte is the goal look into Tega Cay just across the boarder in South Carolina.

I'd live in tega cay over rock hill by far

Hi Mike,

Al gave you a good high-level overview.

I relocated from Charlotte to Tega Cay, SC almost 12 years ago. Tega Cay is a small town next to Fort Mill which lies in-between Charlotte and Rock Hill. I'd be happy to talk with you by phone. Send me a PM with your contact info.

Thanks for the info. If the opportunity arises, I would work in South Charlotte, near the I-77/485 intersection. Very familiar with other parts of NC and GA due to having lived in Raleigh and Winder. Currently just north of Akron OH. Pricey is not our lifestyle, dogs, no kids. Home is still Winder but work is not there. If the opportunity moves forward, I'll definitely call and ask more specific questions. BTW, past member of the NC, SC and GA clubs.

Mike,
SC has the better tax situation, for both house and vehicles. No vehicle inspection in SC. Much lower gasoline prices, too! You can live on either side of the border and not be lacking for amenities. Tega Cay is 5 miles into SC and has exploded recently. 77/485 is literally just a few miles into NC.

Not having kids really opens up possibilities in this area, except for resale value, since school districts won't be of any concern.

There's a Cabela's opening up next month near Carowinds (last SC exit going north). That's why you want to move, isn't it?

We'll all be happy to help when the time comes. Give us some info like budget, house size, garage, trendy/modern/older 'hood, etc and we can really help to narrow down some areas. Also, CLT has gone nuts with uptown condos in the last few years and continues to do so. Lots of "Work/Play/Live"-type places, if that's what you're into.
