Rising Sun will be holding our second annual rally for Toyota owners on August 11th. Click the link for details:

http://www.risingsun4x4club.org/rally.asp

On August 12th, we will be hosting 3 trail runs; easy; moderate and difficult in scale. We will be posting information on that as time gets closer,

The Rally is being sponsored by Sleeoffroad and Stevenson Toyota.

There will be other vendors present and feel free to bring your "treasures" as it will also be a swap meet.

The FJ Cruiser Team will be there and there will be a vehicle recovery demonstration.

So, pencil this in on your Calender, come meet other Toyota 4WD owners, see the latest vendors have to offer, learn how to save your vehicle in a dangerous situation, hang out with people of similar interests, and see some really cool Toyota 4WD trucks from 40's, 45's 55's, 60's, 70's (yes a 70), 80's, 100's, mini-trucks, Tacomas. Tundras, and J Cruisers.

Also take the opportunity to wheel on some of Colorado's trails whether your new to the sport or experianced, we have a trail for you.

Come to the rally and meet Nuclearlemon (Ige) and Romer. Do you really need another reason?

Looking forward to it. I better start saving my pennies now, ah what am I talking about, that's what plastic is for.

I plan to attend but want to camp at least Friday night, maybe Saturday too. Are there some good camping spots in that area? I looked at Lake Chatfeild, seems nice and well developed. Anything a little less civilized?

If you don't get any answers on the camping, try posting on the Rising Sun site.

The Rally is in the "city", so not much for out of the way camping nearby.

We have selected our 3 trail runs for the day after the Rally on August 12th

Easy - Bill Moore Lake- The trail is a mild dirt road that leads from Empire (at the bottom of Berthod pass) to a high alpine lake. The hardest parts of the road are some moguled-up sections that might take a few tries to make it through. A good driver should be able to drive most of the way in 2WD.

Moderate - Red Cone Pass - The trip up is challenging and fun. You reach an elevation of over 12,800 feet with a spectacular 360-degree view. A real adventure with high views of a stunningly beautiful area. Return via Handcart Gulch, to complete a great loop route. This trail’s notoriety is based on an extremely steep 3/4-mile long, one-way descent from the top of Red Cone down to Webster Pass. A competent driver in a stock vehicle could do this run.

Difficult - Spring Creek - This can be done with 33's and a rear locker is recommended. This trail has two areas that can be bypassed that increase the difficulty. The obstacle that can't be bypassed is shown in the first two photo's
