JustDifferentials is closed for the weekend, but I found a Nitro Gear site that claims they are the only supplier of the stock 4.30 ratio for the front my 1999...is this true? Seems like with the number of folks who bump up to 4.88's there might be some used sets around...but the classifieds didn't yield much in results. Are there other sources I should be looking into?

Thanks!

Yup. Sheared the teeth right off the ring/pinion. Kind of surprised. First time for everything I suppose :-) fortunately I was in my driveway.

You should be able to find some used gears. Call a shop like Slee and ask. They do regear work and may have a set to sell

It's a lame story. In my yard on wet grass pulling a tractor. Shouldn't have broken in my mind. Wasn't flogging it or experiencing wheel hop. Just all of the sudden popped and sounded like the transfer case slipped out of gear. But tried moving around the driveway and front end would bind up and crunch. I assumed the carrier grenaded since I have the two pinion version...but once I opened it the ring gear was missing a lot of teeth.

Big tires?

Not sure how long you can have it out of commission but here's a proposal... Freight your carrier over to JT, I'll drive my 2000 over to Cashmere for 4.88s and freight you back my four-pinion (125K) for salvage cost? Assuming it passes muster with Carl that is. Otherwise a clean swap, and he installs and sets up whatever gearing you choose on your dime.
