Rim color question?

I did this over the weekend. Only was able to get 3 wheels done. Man the stripping takes for...ever....

Wonder if results would be the same, if I just sanded the rim enough to allow the paint to adhere and then paint???

I will get around to photos at some point. But mine look exactly the same as Pfran's and I have the same LC color as Pfran..

New Toyo ATIIs Tires 295/75/16 (33.4x11.6) and painted wheels! The tires really present bigger than a 285/75/16 by a lot, seem closer to a 315. Essentially 285=32.7, Toyo's version of 295=33.4 and 315s generally = 34.5. For what I am doing, these should be great! And oh man these are silent compared to my MTs, I was running. Very enjoyable to drive again... I was thinking 315s were the right choice for the 100 but I have to say these 295s seem very spot on.

I did the airplane stripper on the 3 wheels that had the most damage from wheeling around the mall, but skipped that stage on 2 wheels that were not too bad. Just sanded those and one I did primer, the other I just sanded/no primer. All 5 look about the same, the no primer one probably looks the best.
