just went to best buy and found some 5 1/4 in. speakers with a depth of 1 3/4 in. no rubbing of the window at all and no bulging of the door panels. they are the kicker 5 1/4 coaxial speakers and they sound great. you will need to redrill some mounting screws but, that is simple enough to keep your door panel looking good. they were like 60$ after tax.

Instead started a new thread Ingoing bump this one. Rarely in the 60 series section but have owned my 89 FJ62 since 1993.
What's the latest on replacement speaker for the FJ62s that fit the current openings? Want it to look original with the best speakers available. Currently have a audio out of a early 2000s 100 series or first gen Tundra. I have a few of these. I've mounted the amplifier above the glovebox. Brackets from the 3rd generation 4Runner fit the mounting studs for a speaker that must have been used in another market. Considered upgrading the amplifier but not the head unit.
