It is wrong - that's the point - it's not my picture. The SOR drawing is wrong, so I wasn't sure what size speakers to put in it

I sent with the link above and the 5.25" speakers

I'm glad it wasn't your picture. S-O-R needs to be made aware of the big mistake they made. How can they properly sell something when their pictorial description is incorrect.

I bought the retrosound radio and have had nothing but problems with it. The radio works great when the key is on accessory, but when the 40 is started the speakers just cut in and out. I've talked to their tech support, moved the ground, moved the hot to the battery, moved the switched hot, bought a hush mat that would supposedly block the RF signals from the distributor. If you search the internet on this problem, it seems that alot of people have this problem with this radio. There doesn't seem to be a common fix for this. Anyone else come across this or have something I can try to fix the problem?

This has me curious as I was thinking that I would eventually get this for my 75 when that restore happens. I guess they have an extension kit that allows you to move the head farther away (up to 9'):

Radio Face to Body Extension Cable

I found this too which you may have seen in your research but there are no details on the inline resistor board. Stinks that people are having to find their own solutions.

I have found a solution that seems to have worked. Oddly, it was not due to any type of RF interference. It appears that the voltage fluctuates just enough in these old cars that modern (sensitive) radioswill cut out. They can't handle the fluctuations well. In my car's case, I have a voltage fluctuation that drops from the needed 12V to 13.6V. That was causing my new radio's audio to cut out when the previous older (less sensitive) radio worked well.

The fix? My sound technician made me an in-line resistor board with 10 diodes that mitigates the fractional voltage drop that is occurring and viola, problem solved!

Yes, I found this online as well. I did buy the in-line resistor and it didn't help. I really doesn't think it has anything to do with the RF. I removed the radio and wired it to a separate battery and held it up under the dash and it worked fine. I think it has something to do with when the radio is installed in the opening it grounds out somehow. As you know when the FJ40 there is not alot of other areas to install the body of the radio.
