This made me feel a lot better! Will change out thermostat and hope that fixes the running warm issue.

(knocking on wood)

I wondered what you were talking about so I did a search in the 80 Forum.

For those interested, here's the link--

HG Test Kit

It got up to 217 (90+ out with a/c on). It would cool down while stopped but would get warm again at freeway speed.

I'm doing the thermostat tomorrow, any tips?

Black or blue fan clutch? Reason I ask is last year this time I had my 80 get to 217 towing over a mountain. I had a black fan clutch a and who knows how old t-stat. I ordered them both. All systems are G2G! Since that change. I put in a blue fan clutch from AJIK overland in my opinion $$$ money well spent. Hope yours is that easy. Good luck

Funny you should mention that, I've had my browser open for about a week now with that modified blue fan clutch form AJIK. A radiator flush and the new fan clutch are next on my to do list. Hopefully that does the trick.

Oh, changing the thermostat didn't make a difference...

A modified blue fan clutch from AJIK and beach worth of sand and mud from the engine side of my radiator later and my cooling issue seems to be resolved! (Steady at about 185/186) Now I can focus on important things like the Safari Snorkel that has been sitting in the back of it since December.
