It's a 1984 Saudi spec. My plan is to replace the speakers with aftermarket that fit as close as possible the factory housings. We'll see from there how loud they are...

What finally happened with Hank ?

Bump !

I haven't given up hope!

@Mechnizer still has Hank and has promised to complete the job. Word is that other jobs that were on hold before Hank have since been resumed, and Hank has been pushed back down the list.

Apart from that I haven't received any information on what to expect or when to expect it...

In a sad bit of irony, I've been driving a Heep Commander. It drives ok when it works; just one problem after another.

OMG. Found this on page one of your Restoring Hank thread: I'm sure Mike has some other things in mind that I’m not aware of yet. Of course, we’ll take the challenges as we find them. :meh: Feel for ya, my friend!

hmmm, that's unfortunate, but from a glass 1/2 full perspective, from my read of the thread, you'll have something pretty special ...

And that's proven to be quite true. I don't think we've discovered anything totally unexpected from Hank. The biggest revelation is just how much work has gone towards the body. I expected to prioritize the mechanical above that.

Thx, I'm trying hard to focus on that perspective. It's been hard, and I can rarely bring myself to spend time on MUD b/c it just bums me out.

I'm not used to having projects span this much time; I'm admittedly spoiled. So even at 40yo I can still do some growing up. :)

Yeah, thus was born philosophy, the feeble attempt at answering the age old question, why does s*** happen to good people? Well, there will be lessons learned from your experience, hopefully by those new to Mud, about what can and does happen when we get involved with these old beasts.

If it is just waiting everything will be fine, also after that you will be more happy with Hank in the end.

yeah, the one big lesson I've learned is, 40s ain't cheap, to do it right, but its a great hobby, and I've "met" so many decent people ... by the way, I share your disappointment ... I have an 86 Mustang GT that I've had since new, and decided to REALLY jazz it up performance wise ... why, haven't a clue, yah can't really wind them up on the street anymore ... long story short, its been at the builder's for a year ...

hang in there, it will be worth it, from what I've seen in your thread ...

So, you either owe money to your new "brother"?, or there was a dispute about future costs. :flush:

from post #112, estimate of 84 hours x "blank" per hour = $ to finish

QUOTE "A lot of work, 7 days 12 hours of dedication to this project and "We" should be driving Hank end of August .
Now who can say they can completely restore a 40 in 4 months !"

It's getting onto 9 months now and I can say I have done a full rebuild in 4 months, my second rebuild was 7 months but that was because of a 3 month 12ht engine rebuild.

Hank would becoming a little expensive on the pocket one would think by now, specially as there is no time frame to when Hank will be finished.

Least you have summer coming in the next 5 months so you have that to look forward to, hope hank arrives soon for you?

@DEADSALT - lmbo, there's no dispute on $ or otherwise, at least that I'm aware of. Time and priorities are the factors.

@watrob - 9 mos and still preggers. Yay!

Maybe I'll give the full details some day...and by then maybe it'll all makes sense to me. I think by reading this thread most of you get the gist.

Summer is indeed coming, and that's what I'm looking towards. I can't do much myself during the winter here. So it's waiting and lessons in patience for me.

sorry, imbo came up as "in my biased opinion".

you have a rolling chassis and an engine that is to spec.

Too much time has passed, when $ should have sufficed.

@sypd bump for update on Hank! Fingers crossed for good news.
