Replacing tires before a long trip (1 Viewer)

I'm planning a trip to Death Valley later this year and I currently run BFG AT KO tires and they have been flawless. I installed them in April 2014. I don't know exactly how many miles I have on them currently, but I'd guess they are at about 50% tread remaining. So I'm curious if I need to look into getting new tires before the trip or not. To get to Death Valley is around 2k miles of driving. Plus 2k miles back and the driving around death valley. My biggest concern is just the age of the tires.

When I worked in tires, we couldn't sell anything older than 5yo and would not service tires older than 10.
I would recommend new tires as youre in kind of a grey area
