Wow Norcal!

You're on it with the SOR site. What are your thoughts on this engine? Looks like it has decent HP and good torque, wonder what the general mpg is?

The 12HT is nearly the same motor as the 2H (both built by Hino, a Toyota subsidiary), but the 12HT has piston skirt cooling (that's what the 1 signifies) and the T signifies the factory turbo. It is also a direct injection motor (the 2H is indirect--better for WVO--if you're a greaser). Displacement is slightly (very slightly) lower than the 2H, and a good turbo kit on a 2H actually outperforms the 12HT, or so the turbo kit manufacturers say...
Between the two, I'd go for the 2H and then turbo it, but maybe that's just because it is what I have (minus the turbo, but plan on adding one).

The 12HT was the motor in the HJ61, some late HJ60s (I think) and the few HJ62s that were made.

MDCROSSER,
I did the work and instead of the 5 speed I kept the auto tranny. By getting the 1/2 cut you get all the parts and pieces for the conversion. I had marv at SOR install a 12v alt and starter (the motor was origionally 24V). I am happy with my choice and I know that there is tons of debate on Motor choice. Search Tapage he has a 2H and added a turbo and intercooler. Search Mountain goat he did a 12ht and a h55 5 speed in his 60. Ah and look up zanders thread he has done the same swap as I and has a great write up. Any way you go you will be happy. The reason I went with the 12ht was that it would have been the diesel that would have been in the truck outside of the USA HJ61. Good Luck.
