When rebuilding the carb for my 79 fj40, I found that one idle jet was gummed up and the other was missing. I'd like to replace both of them. Are there vendors that just sell idle jets?

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff, 79-80 carbs only have one slow jet on the primary side. The secondary barrel is not drilled for the slow circuit in those years.

Usually soaking in gumout carb cleaner and poking with a welding tip cleaner will get it cleared up.

Thanks for this info Jim. I have my 1980 carb apart today specifically to clean out the slow circuit and could only find one slow jet and the manual shows two. I was beginning to think I had some non-original carb.

Jim,

Thanks, Jim. Yes, I found only 1 jet. :o I ass-u-med that there were two since the carb kit had two. Another question: Are the two jets interchangeable? Can either be used as the single slow jet? The kit is a Keyster and is supposedly for a 79.

Jeff
