Search....well, I'm evidently afflicted in the search category. Anyone have a link to such a menial task? Do you remove all at once, one-at-a-time, etc, etc????

Forgive me...I know not much, except what I've learned.:frown:

There are some nice after market poly ones out there...SOR/MAF and the like....all bolts need to be removed so that you can lift the tub...usually works best with a few helpers...

Pretty easy task....so long as the original ones are not rusted to s***. ;)

Good luck!

Hi All:

You can buy OE rubber body mounts from Spector Off-Road or the dealership, I imagine. A lot of folks have used the Energy Suspension brand poly body mounts instead ($81 a set!) See:

http://store.summitracing.com/defau...eywordSearch&DDS=1&N=115&target=egnsearch.asp

I'd suggest swapping out the mounts in pairs: loosenin two nearby body mount bolts, then jacking-up the part of the body tub near one, replace mount and oartly tighten bolt, then replace the second mount. You might find having a buddy there to help out useful!

Good luck!

Should have mentioned I got the kit from Kurt. Energy Suspension.

So, take off(grind, torch) all the old ones and start replacing? Sounds reasonable...:)

major PIA

i just did mine, and it was truly awful as they were rusted to sh*t

my suggestion if you have the same problem, torch the old rubber out first, and then use the sawzall or cutting torch. clearance was my enemy....

Works best IMHO to do all on one side then all on the other. Leave all the bolts loose until all the new pieces are in. The dang holes never seem to line up after the old stuff is out. Tighten them all down after all the new stuff is in. Done a couple trucks with the ES kit. Nice kit IMHO.

I removed my whole tub... Used the impact wrench and only rounded the bolt heads. Then used the sawsall and about 4 blades for the next hour.. Pay attention to shims (so I've read).

The link pic at summitt is with the round bushings shown. I take it it comes shipped as the square mounts, right?

I have never done a mount kit. Does it make a big difference?

Hi All:

Oh, that pic on the Summit Racing online catalog is just a generic photo from the vender; the pieces in the actual Energy Suspension poly body mount kit look largely like the stock body mount pads.

Thanks for all the info, I appreciate it.:)

another thought, i used a small sarrated kitchen knife to cut the rubber from around the bolts and then used my dremel tool with a cut off wheel to cut the bolts out. worked pretty good and no melted rubber smell or fire.

Depends on year model. Late, post '78 cruisers have round mounts, and I think there's fewer of them. Earlier cruisers have square mounts.

FWIW, I found it easiest to work from front to back. I didn't like the idea of taking them all out because it seemed too easy to get the tub misaligned.

I did the poly ones. Loosened one side of the truck, did one at a time, then the other side. Back ones were a pain with the aux gas tank.
