Hey folks, I have looked but have not been able to find any info on the following. I was interested in replacing my U-Bolts and the leaf spring plate (with skid plate style plates). How difficult is this? Can I simply remove them and replace them on side at a time? Or will the axle/spring move out of proper position? Thanks! Don

If you are still spring under axle, you cannot have any weight on the axle and unbolt it.

But it wouldn't be hard at all to put the truck on jackstands, unbolt the U-bolts and replace them that way. The springs have a bolt that happens to center them, and if you're SUA then the springs will still support the axle.

Easy job. I'd do it one corner at a time just like you suggested. You might have to cut the old U-bolts off.

x2 on the cutting, don't even bother trying to unbolt them if they've been on there a long time. Pickup a cut off wheel for an angle grinder and it will cut through those bolts like butter.
