I wasn't sure what forum to stick this in, but figured since it had to do with 80 series e-lockers, I put it in here...

The wiring harness that goes in-line going from the body to the diff lock actuator of one of my e-lockers is totally smashed up. I'd rather not hard-wire it cause I may need to remove the third and take it somewhere without the rest of the truck at some point (like when I re-gear my diffs). So I need a new harness for it. It doesn't have to be factory (can you even get the complete harness--aka both female and male ends--from toyota?) Pretty much the only requirements are that it has atleast 5 connections and be water-tight.

I've thought about home/car audio places but I've been thinking they probably don't have water-tight stuff...

I've looked at www.waytekwire.com but I don't know WTF they're talking about on that site. I ordered some s*** I thought was what I was looking for, but when I got 'em the only thing I could tell about them was that they needed something else to make them complete and useable--what that was, I just don't know.

Any suggestions on where to get something like this?

Ferg:

You would have to check with CDan on potential to get a new harness. If I understnad what you want to do, I think you have a few options:

1) Find the same harness from a junk yard and splice it into the truck

2) the catalog you posted does have the parts you need (see p30+ of the online catalog). You need the actual connection (many types are shown, even completely waterproof). In addition, you need the primary wire (automotive, multi-strand in the correct guage), and the male and female terminals and a crimper to crimp the terminals onto the wire. Once the terminals are installed, you slide them into the connector. (i've never played with these versions, but the instructions seem to be in the catalog.

HTH
