Not sure what that part is called. I’ve installed all weather floor mats and cargo area, and want something similar for the back lift gate interior area. My dogs hair keeps getting stuck to the carpet and it bothers me. Anyone know what I could replace those with? Is there an OEM or aftermarket panel that exists that is made of rubber, plastic, or anything other than carpet? I saw a guy on eBay has some wood panel looking things but they don’t look attractive to me. Thanks for any suggestions.

You can try this cover from Canvasback,
@drivel111 I agree on taking a look at the Canvasback tailgate cover. I had one on my 4Runner for 5 years and it wore well, and it was one of the first things I added to my LC. If you order, be sure to let them know that you are not using their cargo liner, and that they need to put the Velcro on the BOTTOM side of the tailgate cover. And to have them also include the strip of sticky-back Velcro because the male portion of Velcro doesn't stick to the LC's carpet. At just $40, it is a bargain!

Here are several photos from when I installed mine. See post #46 (Wow, I really need to update that thread!)

This is the best solution I've seen and the added storage is super tempting. But it requires a substantial amount of cutting inside the tailgate and removal of the assist springs.
Super cool but yeah I’m not keen on drilling into the rig. Hard to believe no one makes simple knockoffs of the carpet compartments

Trekkbox make a relatively inexpensive padded vinyl type cover. Great for protecting the original tailgate from damage when standing on it, easy to wipe clean.

Another awesome solution but I would hate to drill into the rig!

Oh this is super helpful! I saw the same company has one where it just covers the carpeted portion. Now I have to decide which one to choose

I use the Trekboxx padded cover - no drilling. I just used velcro and it works great!
