I frequently use computers other than my home computer, so I do not choose to have my password remembered. For as long as I've been a MUD member, I've only had to log in once per session. As of last week, every time I move from one MUD forum to another, I have to log in again. What's up with this? It's very annoying to log in 4-5 times in a 20 minute time span.

your browser software likely updated, happens all the time...and as a result, cookie settings and how they are handled did as well.

Nothing has changed on this end.

Interesting. I've used 3 different computers, each with different browsers during the past week and had the same MUD log-in issue with each of them. :hmm:

and more puzzling, you are the only one reporting...unfortunately, that makes tracking any issue VERY challenging.

You've cleared cookies/cache? Restarted the browser? Confirmed virus software/scan options?

That's 'cause I'm special. :hillbilly:

Yeah, did all that. I wasn't complaining. I never have difficulty logging in, no issue with denial of access, none of that. I'm as puzzled as you, but not losin' any sleep over it. We curmudgeons just like to bitch, ya know. ;)

Today I can't even change from one thread to another within the same forum without logging in again. Same experience on 3 different computers, home and public, using two different browsers. Weird. My wife is a computer professional. I'll ask her to troubleshoot.

Chrome and Firefox are not staying logged in on two different computers; shop and home.

:meh:

Gota be a setting on the computer...ALL I use is Chrome on my computers, and none have had an issue (Chrome DID just update tho...perhaps it adjusted something?)

This is also happening to me. My logins fail immediately. I hope I can get this posted.

Same experience on 3 different computers and two different browsers--doesn't seem to make any difference which computer I use. I had login failures yesterday while using a friends computer. He's also a MUD member.

Last week it took 4 attempts to post to my rustbucket thread. I'd get half the post written and be abruptly logged off. This morning I've logged in at least a half dozen times. It's necessary every time I change forums.

FWIW, these login failures started spontaneously about 3 months ago. No computer settings had been changed. I don't know squat about computers, but my wife is a software engineer. She's tried to isolate the issue without success, but she's convinced it doesn't have anything to do with computer settings.

Don't mean to bitch, just letting you know that the issue still exists. :hmm:

well, nothing of any importance has changed with the forum software either...I'll (again) contact my sysadmin on this, but tracking/correcting an issue that only sporadically effects a handful of users can be challenging :)

Question one, who is your ISP?

At home it's Grande Communications.

At my neighbor's house, it's Time-Warner Communications.

At my wife's office, it's Data Foundry.

Different computers, different browsers, different ISP's, same login issues.

Ah, but same user. I think you're the problem, Lee. :)

Picking up old thread...
In the same boat - When not ticking off the "stay logged in" box, I'm beeing thrown out really quick. I have to log in for every thread, and two times for each posting (once for getting the reply box, and once after clicking Post Reply).
It's not always convenient to stay logged in -- Is there a setting for this timing? Could we have it increased to a couple of minutes at least?
I have now tried Chrome and Opera browsers.

There is no "timer" setting. You must tick the "stay logged" box or every page change will log you out.

Real fun when trying to reply to a post in the forum ...
