Remove mirror head from rearview mirror?

Anyone know how to remove the head from the post/ball on the rearview mirror of my FJ60?

Do you need to remove the head or will the whole assembly do?
The assembly is really easy to pull but I have no idea about the ball joint.

I want to swap a 60 2 position (glare) head onto a 40 post/ball.

Start with the one you dont care about and pull hard.

Assume you're talking about the inside mirror. If so, you have to remove the glass to get at the ball which is held by a plate & a couple of screws.

Removing the glass looks like a recipe for 7 years bad luck!

Very belatedly: how does one remove the glass without breaking it?

pretty sure you just loosen the screws on the backside of the mirror head and remove the ball.....but i might be wrong

FYI, some of the latter 40's came with a 2 postion mirror, one of my 82s had one, other did not,both OEM
