If anyone has a small chrome trim piece that goes over the driver side door handle key hole, pm me. I’m looking for one that’s missing on my lx570.

Thanks, that glue is strong but I got it off.
Did you remove just the chrome part or the whole strip chrome and body colored sections as well?

I removed all of it. Would be more difficult to remove just the chrome and you'd be left with a sizable gap on top that would be a pain to keep clean.

Did you heat them up first? Use dental floss to get behind them?

What was the technique?

I ended up doing this. I just used a plastic trim tool to pry them off enough to get my fingers behind them. Then I just pulled slowly, gradually working my way down the side. No issues. I used a 3M wax wheel to remove the residue, then waxed/buffed.

Unfortunately, the 2013 LX has fasteners connecting the molding to the door via bolt holes so the dechrome is a bit more complicated.

Yes. They painted the grill. And the rear chrome trim on the tailgate. Pics in 200 picture thread.

I replaced the tail lights with 2013 tail lights. They bolt right in. They do not have chrome trim.
Any pics of the 2013 tail lights installed?

What year was your LX?

2011 doesn’t have holes either.

If you own a 2011, does that also mean your spouse will join you in the garage while you tinker around with decade old trucks!?
If you look closed In the reflection of my dirty paint you’ll see my wonderful wife enjoying a seltzer while I scrub glue off the door. Can’t beat it!

Okay, so I’m in full swing on the dechroming project. I’ve been working on the rear gates and window belt strips. Getting the chrome bits off the tailgates isn’t too challenging; but having a panel tool kit will make your life so much easier. The belt stripping is a different story. Everywhere you read people will say “it just pops right off.” Hysterical. The last thing that belt stripping does is pop right off. Ended up using a panel tool, patience, a hammer, and pure aggression to remove them and not damage them. If anyone wants to remove theirs give me shout and I can potentially give you some pointers.

Here’s where I’m at in my process:

Remove parts
Sand with 220, 320, and 400
Apply adhesive promoter
Prime
All my pieces are drying and will add pictures of the belt molding tomorrow.
