Hi folks,

Any ideas on removing the chrome on an LX570?
Wife has a white 570 and I am wanting to get rid of the chrome trim, door handles, etc...

Lexus Russia released a 25th anniversary edition for the LX570 where the majority of the chrome was blacked out. It was only sold in white and black. Looked pretty great too.

The window trim, door handles, etc. can be swapped with that of an LC200. I had a 2009 LX that was black. I ordered black LC200 door handles and window trim and had it installed for about $800.00.

Excellent. Where did you have the door handles and window trim installed?
What about the unlock button on the door handle? Did you have to reprogram that?
What window trim pieces are you referring to?
Would you happen to have the part numbers you purchased?

thanks!!

I had them done at Fender Mender in Mount Pleasant, SC.
I did not have to re-program the unlock button on the door handle.
The window trim pieces I am referring to are the ones at the bottom of the sill only. They are chrome plated on the LX and were not on LCs at least in 2008 and 2009.

I do not have the part numbers. What I did was gave them the VIN from a 2008 LC and had them pull up a diagram and find the parts.

They probably still have the file under my name. I am pretty sure they would. It was done in 2012.

Frankly, you can replace each of the window pieces in probably 10 seconds by yourself. The old ones just pull up (pull carefully) and come off. The new ones just pop into place. They are not expensive at all.

PM me if you want my email or cell to help you out.

The ones on that LX are from an LC 200.

Long story short, I once had the attached 2008 LC 200. I then ended up years later getting a low mileage 2009 LX570 when the LC 200 had a ton of miles on it. I immediately noticed, therefore, all the places where an LX has chrome that an LC does not. I simply gave them the vin from my old LC and we pulled up parts and swapped them out.

We also pulled the chrome off the doors and it came right off.

I pulled the chrome off, the strips came right off no problem. Waxed around where they were.

Just to be sure, you just pulled the chrome strip off the lower door body moldings? The moldings near the bottom side of the door close to the running board?

BTW- I have a condo in Mt Pleasant. Not sure if that is where you are at.

thanks! I just removed the chrome moldings from the doors and they come off by just pulling.
Did you also replace the chrome on the bottom of the rear fixed glass window in the quarter panel area? I went to Toyota and they said they dont sell the black strip for the fixed glass.

My local shop just taped that area and painted the chrome black on that one part. I forgot about that. I had the truck 3 years after I did that and no chipping or anything.

cool. thanks for your help!
Did you paint your grill as well?
Did you do anything with the taillight chrome trim and the rear chrome trim on the liftgate?

Yes. They painted the grill. And the rear chrome trim on the tailgate. Pics in 200 picture thread.

I replaced the tail lights with 2013 tail lights. They bolt right in. They do not have chrome trim.

I am excited to get started removing chrome and adding black my LX570. Can someone point me in the direction of good place to buy OEM parts? I am okay with aftermarket if it has been okayed but someone on here with experience of using it themselves. I am going to start with the window trim and door handles. Thank you!
