Do any of you have a remote starter on your 100? Let me take that up a notch - a remote starter that works well.

I had a version from several years ago that basically replaced the on-board alarm system. Not perfect by any means.

I am looking for a good system that will work with the Toyotas, both the 4R and the 100.

I have the newest DEI Viper system that's the remote start/alarm comes with the color organic lcd display remote and I it starts the car from a mile away....coolest feature is I can start it from my iPhone anywhere in the world and it alerts me if someone is trying to jack my goodies. Also, like how it autostarts when my cabin temp become 95 degress and it cools my cruiser down to a comfortable temperature, or puts my defrosters on during snowy days. I like it a bunch and I've had it for 5 months no problem, I got the tilt feature installed so no one can jack up the cruiser and take it's wheels, without the super annoyingly loud alarm going off. It records the angled degree at which the car is parked and if it moves up it goes bonkers!

I bet that was a pretty penny to install!

I had a remote start installed about 2 years ago and has been good. No problems except for the remote getting worn out and breaking. Still works great. No where near the top notch, but i dont need the fancy around the world starting/ alarm system. Didnt want to break the bank with the set up. Works for me. Definitely recommend a remote start. Gets the cab cool in the summer/ warm in the winter. Not to mention it gives you a little extra warm up time.

I got the system for $355 googling for the bdp (BestDealPossible) and then found a certified alarm installer locally on craigslist who installed it in 7hrs and I paid him cash $160. Tilt senor = $ 25

*** Worth every penny cause my wheels all got slashed even the spare underneath, had to flat bed the cruiser to get the tires replaced. = $60 tow with tip and 5 new tires =$1200
:bang:
It gets even worse...... 3 weeks later (someone generous enough give me 4 brand new 3 ton jack stands all properly placed & fairly leveled underneath my 00' cruiser) stole all 5 of my tires snipped my spare wire underneath to get that.... wish they were nicer and used the tool to lower the tire rather then cut the wire.
- 5 new sand blasted 2tone custom powder-coated stock 50th anniversary rims = $800 and 5 brand new tires = $1050.... tire place cut me a deal they felt bad for me being a college student and they warned me telling me some girl I must have pissed off has it out for me.... possibly but I doubt they would have left it on jack-stands.

My total lost in a span of 3 weeks totaling a little more then $3,100....most of my savings for cruiser upgrades such as.... new suspension, f+r steel bumpers, diff. upgrade and new brake rotors.

$515 for alarm vs $3100.... wish I got the alarm after my tires first got slashed..

I'm now putting my 1959 ford Fairlane up for sale to get my land cruiser big and sexy!!!!

PS-
I went with a DEI python newest model and it was DOA and they sent me and new one and it too was DEAD... I got a refund and the installer only sells DEI Viper and Clifford models... he told me he's been installing for 15 years all others remote starts are crap. He sold the one I wanted which was the newst for $900 installed..... that's when I googled for the BDP and save myself 8 fingers... leaving me 2 appropriate fingers for the con-salesman who thought I had money to blow and he could take advantage of me!!!

Time to move out of Detroit! ;)

Stealing tires I get. Slashing them I just don't understand.

Funny you say that my father is from Detroit and he said something similar when I told him what happened. I live in Florida guess those native detriotians are snow-birding south for the winter.

I later put 2&2 together.... it must have been someone REALLY smart because they got me to replace my half lifed tires and then stole them when I flew south to see my family during this past thanksgiving. The rims were freshly powdered black about 4 months before they were taken.

If anyone is curious to see what it looked like the day I got back from thanksgiving... Well, I took a few pics and the Chrysler is my new daily driver since all my tires were taken. Can't wait to get the cruiser back on the road!!!

It would be way sexier with wheels on it.....Right?
- I painted my tail lights black because I wanted to match the light guards.... Unfortunately same people who took my rims took my brushguard too. But they couldnt unbolt from the bottom because it was air ratcheted in..... so they just took the top half and my HID lights which were attached the brush. B I T CH ES

get a compustar 2wss-pro, or any 2-way system. you would want to be notified someone is jacking your $hit. no one pays attention to car alarms going off these days.

I have the newest viper it notifies my iphone of what's exactly is being f-ed with on my Cruiser and then I call local police to have them do a drive by and check it out. I liked DEI better then compustar my Pops had that system on his G500 and he hated it! However, I guess it's really preference.

What I dislike is you have to pay 20-30 a year for the iphone system account to work with the Viper or Clifford.

Alright...what town in FL do I need to stay the heck out of?

Miami and North Florida..... scum bag thieves. Jealous is what they all are!

Not to stray off topic, but Bull, what rims did you have? I'll remember to never buy those and come to Miami or North Florida. As we have a house in Ft. Lauderdale.

That's the city where I went to highschool. I had white custom 2tone powder coated stock 2000 50th anniversary rims with red lips. Someone really liked them and the fact they were sitting on 3 week old tires must have been the bonus for them.

Just bought a new pair and they are currently at my buds powder-shop. Should be picking them up sometime this week.
