I am looking to freshen up my stock wheels on my '96. Is there any source that anyone knows of that carries refurbished replacements in stock? I'd like to buy them and swap them with my wheels which can then be reconditioned. I found a place called wheelcollision, but they don't have them in stock. For the $145+ for stock, I could just go aftermarket.
 
Any powder coat place should be able to do it but they usually can't 2 tone them. I think I was quoted $50-$75 a pop locally for my stock LX450 wheels, but I wanted to keep the black offset and decided against it. Besides that I've seen a couple companies around selling them for $150ish apiece and when I called to ask if they'd redo mine for me they said they wouldn't :meh:.
 
Thanks, I'm now looking to get aftermarket rims since the price is not that bad at $128 per wheel. I could then sell my existing stockers and recoup some of the cost.

I think these have a similar style to the factory wheels. I'll run them without caps:

I got a set of refurbished OEM wheels with a lifetime warranty from wheelsrims.net. If you buy four they'll ship them for free. Here's a pic of one of them on my 80.

You're going to be taking a few steps backwards in terms of quality if you buy Chinese made aftermarket wheels.
 
FYI: The stockers are a quality forged aluminum wheel, for $128 a wheel those aftermarket wheels will be cast aluminum which will be far less stout than the stockers. For comparison to get into an aftermarket forged wheel (if anyone makes one with our bolt pattern) you are going to be looking at $300+ a corner easy.

I agree with the above statement, and meant to add that the refurbishment quality of the wheels I purchased from wheelsrims.net is of good quality. I'm a picky fella, with a background in automotive detailing, and the machined face, 40th anniversary style rims I opted for are quite nice. They balanced well with the 295/75/16 BFG ATs I mounted, and have stood up well to road salt and debris. As an aforementioned picky fella, I would easily recommend these wheels to a fellow mudder.:D

What he said...forged is far stronger than cast, turns out the stock wheel is just about the best wheel for the rig, 'cept maybe for Hutchinsons ($$$:eek::eek::eek:)
Several people recondition stock wheels, just make sure you get the correct lug type (tapered/conical or straight shank)
If you need 'em in stock, you might try Transwheel, United Wheel, or JerrysWheels.com
 
Thanks for the feedback guys. Your comments jarred my memory on the cast vs. forged quality comparison and price points. Also, thank you for the website for the factory refurbs, that is exactly what I had been looking for initially.

I still may go w the cheaper aftermarkets regardless given the target use for my truck. I've had TSW wheels which are likely cast on a range rover with light off road use (PA/NJ and they held up well. I even wheeled with a set of Brabus machined wheels on my g-wagon and no issue there. Obviously, they wouldn't hold up for serious rock crawling, but for off-road in my area, the cheapos may work well enough. Still deciding...
