Redesigned xtd 40

After focusing how much will I save by re inventing this 40, I came with the conclusion it will not be worth it if I end up not liking it, so I opted for bigger axles.

I have found a guy in PA with some custom axles as he was building his jeep and I ended up with his setup : front narrowed dana 60 and a custom spidertrax 9' ford. WMS 64 and 63 respectively.

got pretty exited after throwing them under the 40 and I hoping they will stay under the 40 for a very long time !

Here are some pictures. Chopped off the end of the frame rails as planned and mostly to get a few extra inches of my small garage.

Good call on the axles. My second time building my 40, I'm getting all stout parts so hopefully it will serve me well for the long haul.

Those are monsta axles....post up some progress please - gotta start the New Year off with some motivation for us all!

Not much done, mostly concentrated on cleaning up all yota parts.

Here are some pics; I will be extending the tub ( towards the back) but before removing so, want to fab the sliders along with the rear hoop for the coilovers. Just the lack of room sucks.

I have been doing some work on this project, but seems like there's no App support for the new software yet, unless I am not aware of one?
Haven't hanged out here in a while, but can some one point me out to the right direction? Mobile is just a lot easier, or I would say, I use it a lot more for personal entertaining.

Good call on the 9". Im building one for my buggy. Dont feel like changing out another mini diff on it. So 9" it is.

I actually miss not having the 40, no more wheeling for a while. I hope the axles will hold up in the near future.
Are you building a rear 9"? Your buggy is pretty sick.

Your old set-up looks a whole lot like I want to do with my daughters FJ40. What was so wrong about that configuration?

What exactly was the set-up? from the pic it looks like reversed springs and a spring-over. Stock springs? What tire size?

His old trucks(s) were awesome (there have been a couple 3 variations)... Daniel just can't leave well enough alone!

Have made some progress though.

Nothing wrong with the old setup, worked great, just wasn't satisfied as I am a little hard on parts and was constantly breaking.
Taking the build to a different level from observing rigs and trails. Still learning...
