I'm with you Glen. Optima Jim- I just placed another order for 8 Energy 1 NSB210 batteries destined for the inverter bank of a 71 foot motoryacht. If I have a problem with these batteries, they will be replaced without drama within the warranty terms (proven). I have done this for a living for 18 years and have installed many of these batteries and even more groups of wet 2 volt cells from Rolls or Surrette on older jobs. The Optima is inadequate for most of my customers applications barring the small tenders or shore boats. Considering my lack of luck in the (recent) past with your product, perhaps you will excuse me if I say that I am unwilling to gamble any further with them. The market has changed considerably in the last few years and Optima is far from the only player in the game anymore. It all boils down to what is going to help satisfy my present customer so I can get a referral to his friends.
To Synopsize- The people in my business locally are moving away from your product. 50% of this is due to phone calls from customers complaining that their tender/shore boat wont start, the other 50% is due to your high pricing and dealer shenanigans in Canada. I have personally had 2 of your batteries fail. 'Fail' in a marine technicians lexicon means I have received an upset phone call from a client. 'Fail' means I must correct this immediately regardless of the distance to the boat or the inconvenience to myself. (ever hopped on a float plane with a battery?) It is curious to not that both optimas were replaced with your competitors products, no other changes were made, and the replacements are not generating any 'fail' calls 2 years later? I stand by my original opinion that your battery isn't what it used to be, and you have a lot of work to do on your Canadian dealer network and pricing before I will ever consider your products again. Thank you, however for your participation here.
