Well, I'm officially out of the red Cruiser club. Now she's "beige" #4E9. It was an '87 color. It was done with the help of some friends and it's not perfect but certainly a huge step up from where she was.

Looks great...love that color....if my truck wasn't white it would be that color...

Nice job, looks great.

Thanks for the comments.

We cut out the rust around the rear wheels and a few spots on the rockers and replaced with new steel. The rest was minor dents, scrapes and surface rust. We used a new tailgate we found in the junkyard from a blue '87. Fabbed a new front bumper and reworked our previously fabbed rear bumper with a heavy-duty pivot for the spare carrier.

sweet looks like its coming together quite nice. I have some bubbles coming back around my carb vent and its buggin me. I hate rust so im going to get rid of it some how. So I'll either end up two toning it or just re-paint it agian...

That looks awesome! I really like the black grille area with the tan. Ever think about painting the roof white? I think it would look great

I love that color!! Anyone here line-x'd there fenders?? I'm thinking about doing it and wondered what it would look like on a 60? (sorry if hi-jacking!!)

With a compressor, sanding attachment, spray gun attachment and a few hundred dollars in sandpaper, tape, primer, sealer & paint, the rest is pretty much labor. It took us a few nights to prep it before priming and then we wet sanded the primer coat which took us a few nights. Now that I've gone through it once I could do it much faster. How well you prep the body is what dictates all the time and how well your finished job will come out. We did an OK job but her main purpose is bouncing around the mountains so we didn't take the time to make it too purty.

The guy that helped me said "Well, you can take it to the car show, but you won't enter it in the car show."

Sweet! I like that color almost as much as (my) red!

Did you do any of the engine bay?

And, is that just primer overspray on the frame/springs, or did you paint underneath, too?

I don't have the skills/money/time to pull something like that off, but I know my red 60 could use it. Of course, I'd probably keep mine red!
