Hi all,

Just purchased a 2011 LX with ~200K miles that has full dealer service records and (importantly for New England) a clean underbody as a former Texas vehicle. There are a few points to address right off the bat:

1) Suspected front left wheel bearing
2) AHC globes

I'll be leaving this at a shop for that work, but given the age/mileage of the vehicle, is there anything else I should have done in a preventative capacity? E.g.,
  • Ball joints/LCA
  • Front right wheel bearing as well
  • AHC shocks
  • Valley plate re-seal
  • Alternator
No huge desire to throw $$$ at this if not needed, but this cruiser is clean and I have budget left over from when I bought it -- figured I might invest some more to prevent any failures/downtime over the next few years while the vehicle is at the shop. Thanks all in advance!

I’d replace the radiator if original. The things on your list I’d do only if they are causing a problem. Just change fluids, lube the propeller shafts, new battery, and enjoy the ride.

I would agree. I wouldn’t even change the radiator unless the top tank is cracked.

Radiator was thankfully already replaced (as well as the valve cover gaskets...)

Considering long-distance reliability, the starter and alternator can be replaced. It is not too late to deal with other components when problems arise.

I have a 2010 LC that had 211k when i got it

I've been going through and replacing all wear items

Before i owned it, it had NEVER been offroad, had been in SoCal its whole life, and used a commuter by a friends wife

EVERY SINGLE rubber bushing related component ive replaced have been absolutely toast and completely shot. ESPECIALLY the 4 rear arms and drag link.

I have lots of pics, documentation, and part #s on my build thread (in sig)

It was baffling how much better the ride was after replacing all the arms and bushing related things.

MECHANICALLY, i just replaced stuff because, but it wasnt needed.

-Water pump (bearings were tight, no noise or play)
-Alternator (bearings were tight, no noise or play)
-Power Steering Pump (slight grind in bearings, some play)
-Fan bracket bearing (bearings were tight, no noise or play)
-Idler Bearing (shot, lots of play and noise)
-Tensioner (definitely lost some of its spring strength)

So, id strongly suggest replacing everything bushing related with those miles
