Recommendations on Self-Installed Home Alarm Systems?

My house already is wired with sensors on doors, and motion sensors.

My alarm controller is acting funny. Rather than taking it back to the local vendor and getting the hi-pressure sales pitch, or paying too much for checkout and parts since they are the only vendor (like my Eco-Water system)...

Is there a recommended, self installable home alarm system that others have used?

I am also interested in the answer to this question - I have looked at the Alexor system from DSC which is promising -- But I don't know what I I don't know about alarms

I found this site, but we are both in the same boat. I don't know what a lot of this stuff means, and I haven't had any time to study up on it.

They use the camera systems to take pictures of people stealing their stuff more than an alarm going off if a motion sensor is activated type systems, etc.

Hopefully they will have what you need.
