I've done the search and I know a lot of people have them, but I'm wondering if any of you could recommend specific kits for power door locks and windows. Do these kits take away the manual option of operating the locks and windows?

can't recommend an aftermarket one, but a friend tried some a/m brand a decade or so ago with poor results. he ended up taking the parts from a wrecked car that had them and fabbing them into a pickup he had a decade or so ago. worked well.

yes, it takes away manual operation

I was once looking at the power windows in an 80 series, and noticing how similar the mechanism looked to a Pig...

I & others have used the Bearclaw latches with success. Mine are the manual type but they do offer the electric option. Shop around online at various speed shops. I ditched the heavy chrome handles in favor of some up to date, common & flush mounted plastic 90's Honda Civic handles. Time consuming & tedious to install but I'd do it again the same way.

I just went through your build threads - holy cow! you have some skills.

Unfortunately I dont possess the power to join metal with the temperature of the sun so I'm looking for something easier.

I'd be willing to bet that a 62 series has almost evrything you need and it is all for sale in the classifieds and it is all toyota...JMHO, HTH
