I need to replace my 1965 under cabinet ductless range hood. Any recommendations?

Ductless as in it just recirculates the vented air back into the kitchen?

Yes, that is what I have now. I don't want a duct running up through my cabinet, and the back is open to my family room.

IMO a recirculating range hood is worthless. Not even worth turning on. That's what was in our kitchen when we moved into our current house, and I know the contractor didn't want to mess with running a duct since our stove is not on an outside wall. I also have open beams in my kitchen, no sheetrock ceiling to hide ducts in.

I spent 3 days modifying the cabinets, installing a damper in the wall, and I had to have a tin knocker guy come make me a custom transition so I could get the ventilation going outside. It was a huge PITA but it was totally worth it. Yes, there is a duct running up through the cabinet over the hood, and it does kinda suck to loose that storage, but like I said I'm really glad I went through all the trouble. The duct is a 3x10 that lays across the top of the cabinets, I painted it flat black so it's not as noticeable. Then my wife found a nifty sign in a craft shop that covers it up.

Soooo much better having all the smoke and moisture sent outside. We have combo microwave (Samsung) and range hood, probably not what you're looking for.

as is the noise blower in many over-the-range microwaves

I can't disagree that the noise is annoying, but it's certainly not "worthless". Our Samsung has 5 speeds, sucks 400 cfm at the #5 setting, which is really awesome when you've got a big pot of pasta on the boil. But ya gotta yell over it.

Our kitchen is just too small to have a dedicated hood and a microwave somewhere else.

I hear where your coming from; venting to the outside is best. I do have a built in soffet over my cabinet that I could go up through and 90 over to the outside wall, but it would be tight hooking up the fittings.
