My son and I will be spending +3 weeks out in the desert this summer. One week each Death Valley, Black Rock and central NV/UT.

My son is cold natured, but I'm not. A fan would help me greatly.

Can anyone recommend a good tent camping fan? I can't count on having electricity (120 VAC) so it will have to be battery powered.

Thanks,

Al

Your going to cook in DV and the Black Rock, fan or no fan.
They are two of my most favorite places on the planet but I avoid them in the summer.

A fan at Black rock is gonna feel like standing in front of a heater. Get a spray mister.

ideally, get both.

The answer would be a 12v powered or solar powered swamp style cooler...is there such a thing

I had one years ago, it was brilliant. Sucked current though, which might be a problem.

This would be worth it: Perseids August 12, morning Sets around 2 a.m.

Black Rock has Zero light pollution, one of the blackest places in N. America.
My guess is you wouldn't notice how hot it was sitting in a folding lawn chair looking up at that.

I'll be in the Desolation Wilderness area that weekend.:grinpimp:

Most of our camping at DVNP will be in Beatty, still hot, but not as bad as the Valley. At least one night we'll camp at the Saline Valley hot springs.

At Black Rock, we'll be camping at the Soldier Meadows Ranch and Lodge, about 40 miles north of the playa.

Yes, it will be hot, but that's one of the reasons we're going in the summer: We hope to break 130 this year at Bad Water.

Thanks,

Al
