If you do any type of real off roading with that thing you will be dragging your ass every where
Most 60's and 80's already have really poor departure angles that would kill it even more
And forget it at $600!

I have to disagree with this. That design gets the spare up pretty high so it really won't affect the departure angle that much for what most people do with a 60 or 80.

I think the design sucks on other grounds though.
1 - It cantilevers the spare out way far from the back of the truck, lots of stress on the pivot spindle.
2 - If the cans were rotated and moved to either one side or the other it would bring the whole thing in closer to the truck.
3 - 10gal of gas, the weight of two cans and a 33 or 35 inch tire on one rack? Really? Better not park the wrong way or you will need three of your friends to open it. If you throw a Hi-Lift, shovel and Trash A Roo on there you better be real careful about where you park, even at the Mall.
4 - What the hell were they thinking when they put the spindle on the far side from the center of mass? Did they never hear of Archimedes?

Other than that I like it.:grinpimp:

Im not talking about the spare tire itself
you are basically extending and already low hitch reciever another 4-6 inches off the rear of the rig which could pose a problem if the terrain became not so friendly
And yes I agree that after some time the joints on that thing will be shot and or fail Will it be an issue for most probably not, but it could be if one is not careful
That would suck if you had to access your hatch alot
Poor design all around for $600

I get you now.

I was thinking a similar thing when looking at their website. You've probably seenthat every product has its own page with the picture being a GIF that shows the gate opening and closing. As they swing back and forth you can see the reaction in the vehicle suspension. When the vehicle's lean is seen with the gate in the fully open position I found myself wondering where the locking mechanism was to hold all that offset mass in place. In an off-camber situation that could be a handful.
