Anyone have the part# or know of an aftermarket manu for the rear cover (that conceals the receiver)?

Someone 'borrowed' mine.

Ouch! Sorry, I threw mine in the recycle bin when adding the ARB rear bumper. Some of the other folks on this forum with rear ARBs might have it laying around.

Perfect excuse to fit a 2" hitch. Handy for if you need a big trip to the hardware store/dump or if the person behind you isn't paying attention. Mine's been in since day two 24/7 for the above two reasons.

I was thinking about getting one for when I am out and park on the street (to keep parker's off my rear bumper).

Who is the 'forum recommended' vendor for such hitches?

I can't be the only one who is irked by people who leave their ball hitches on 24/7 and never/rarely tow. I don't care when I drive my "armored" 100 but when driving my other cars, I'll avoid parallel parking behind a ball hitched truck/SUV. Large vehicle, blind spot, huge weight distributioning hitch.... "oops, I didn't see you" as they drive off pretending they didn't know. The "tap" that would ordinarily be just a small dimple is now $1k in damage to my bumper. The offending vehicle is gone and nobody witnessed it.

Should I park my 100 back to back with them and install my 9" drop hitch upside down for a shot at their tailgate? <rant off>

I think it should be illegal to have a ball hitch on the back without towing. Do you know how many times I have rammed my leg into those :censor: things? I want to take it off and throw it through there back window. My mother put her leg into one in downtown Atlanta and almost cried. Nothing is more annoying than somebody with a big truck that thinks they own the road just because, I see it everyday the Atlanta traffic, nothing makes my blood boil like that. More of a hazard when your not towing. Then you get people crying it makes there car more durable in a car accident. No it doesn't, it just wrecked more of the other car and destroyed the front end of a car when it could just be a small paint swap and 150 bucks in damage to buff out and hit it with some touch up paint. Instead it turns into a 2K damage report, bumper, radiator, hoses, grills, bumper supports, etc.

I actually have a scar on my leg from some body leaving there ball hitch on it and I put my knee cap right into the edge in a dark parking lot. Left a note on the windshield with some pleasant words. Don't get me started on this topic, I'm just getting warmed up

So let me get this straight....you hurt yourself by whacking another man's balls with your knee?

Sorry...I had to :flipoff2:

I do agree with you though! I don't leave mine on either, but it's always in the LC with me.

To answer the OP's question, the covers are available here:

I spent quite a bit of time getting just the right receiver and ball set up for mine with the right drop for the Grady White and also with a nice clean look. Fits the feel of the LC perfectly. I tow the boat routinely 4 months a year and keep the hitch in the rest of the year for very good reason.

My last rig a GX was rear ended twice. Once on I-90 and the other time on a main arterial. Both times they were are fault and had major gouges in their bumpers. My car received no damage. If I had not had the hitch I would have needed some body work each time. I think the pro's significantly out weight the negatives in this scenario.

It's not their fault you don't watch where you're going.

As to the problem of parking behind a truck with the tow hitch ball left in, whenever I park in a situation where I can easily see damage being done to my car, I snap a photo of the person's tag with my cell phone camera. At the very least, I'll have some info for my insurance company if something does happen.

Seriously???

I was rear ended by a Buick and my hitch went all the way to the frame of her car. Did alot of damage. Didn't put a scratch on my truck. The kicker is...she didn't have insurance!!! So, I will happily leave my hitch in my truck and let you keep walking into it since you apparently like walking way to close to the rear of other people's vehicles.
