So I was being Dumb and roasting my 38 TSLs ,in low 2, on dry pavement, dumb but looked awesome! "not worth it!":bang:
and killed my rear end. Most likely pinion and etc havent looked yet. So question which route would yall go for replacement, repair? Find a good front diff and lock it, buy new gears reset up,buy complete and install,or???. Money and time are somewhat of a factor, due to weather changing soon and etc.
Just open to opinions.
Ready for some razzin to.
Thanx

just had this happen to my S-10 but i wasn't fooling around.. damn thing just broke.. was cheaper for me to just go to the junk yard and get a whole new axle housing.. clean it up.. put new brakes on it etc. i went over kill in wirewheeling everything and painting it and stuff since it was out and it took me about about 2.5 days (working like 4-5 hours a day)

more than likely though you don't have that option unless you can find someone locally with a cruiser that would be willing to part with an axle. honestly that would be the easiest thing especially if you've never done axle work - I only had to change the wheel seals and stuff but honestly i don't think it would be extremely hard to replace the ring and or pinion - i've just never done anything like that before and don't have the garage/tools to do the work so i opted for the easier route.

No pics = Bull****.

On the broken diff....just find something to toss in there and get you going....you will likely be replacing it again soon anyhow......

Yeah I prob do it again.

BS cause I didnt post pic or I didnt smokem?
Cause It was so smokey I couldnt see but Smelled great!

That's alot of questions.

If it were me I would get another secondhand diff and not do wheelies on dry pavement.

It would be cheapest & easiest way. Probably a good time to do your bearings and axle seals at the same time.

As for a locker diff it depends what you use your rig for, on a DD it would be a waste.

Well it ended up not being "blown" The left side main cap came loose and the carrier shifted left away from the pinion.
Still bad but repairable. Any way bought new axles, whole 3rd and locker along with bearings seals and what not.
But done and happy. Sorta cheap 800$
