I know it's not directly GX or 4runner related, but it sounds like a cool event and based on this article it looks like one of the Rally's founders will be driving a GX for the event.
Anyone know if she (Emily Miller) has more details on the vehicle? It would be neat to see how it does although I imagine it can't be too grueling since one of the teams will be driving an Outback and the LR4 team has done it twice already (assuming on the same engine).
