I bought the official parts mentioned in the first response and used JB Weld to clean up the transition from original trim piece to the Land Cruiser badge. I like how it turned out. :)

What is the easiest way to remove the existing badging for coating? An old friend advised using a WD-40 soaked paper towel to soften up the glue overnight. He then used some dental floss to break the logos away. Any thoughts?

I didn’t remove the badges when I dipped. I didn’t wanna worry about positioning or using the wrong glue. OEM glue sticks. If layered thick enough, plastidip peels right off paint. Just go around the letters with a toothpick first to encourage splitting the “seam” there. Overall very easy

Yes, it's PlastiDip (or something equivalent), and I actually did remove it this time (initial trial was on the car, to be sure I liked it - before I got the Cygnus and LC badging). I just took a wide metal putty knife and scraped against the back side of the badge instead of near the paint. The OEM double-sided tape comes off with a bit of elbow grease (it's 15 years old at this point). I then used some polish to clean up the scratches around where the badges have been washed around for ages before I put the re-dipped badges back in place.
The only piece I didn't remove was the frame around the license plate - that thing is really stuck down and I didn't want to warp it.
3M trim tape is the right stuff - just use an X-Acto knife to cut away the excess.

Also, one correction - the piece listed in the post from @BEG mentions the overseas Land Cruiser badges, but I got the one(s) from the 98-03 - sold as OEM parts 75442-60150 (Land)/ 75443-60040 (Cruiser)
I'm waiting for the Mrs. to notice.

Just for the sake of clarity, the part numbers I posted are the closest thing I could find to the small "LAND CRUISER" badges used on the CYGNUS. They are not the same as the domestic LC badges you installed (which look great, BTW!).

Correct (and thank you!)

The Land Cruiser Cygnus is what the LX470 is called in markets where the Lexus brand doesn't exist.

What view is the leading edge fender mirror give the driver of the right hand drive rides? Is that a convex / wide angle mirror view?

I can’t believe you have to buy each word - if you had to pick one it’d be CRUISER for the win!
