I have an 04 LX that the rear view mirror separated from the windshield. I took it apart, got the metal button out and glued it to the windshield using permatex rear view mirror glue from O'Reilly. That was attempt one. That one fell off, so I read the instructions (only read instructions after you fail), and saw it had to be done between 50 and 75 degrees. Colorado has been in the 90s for for a week plus and I had a trip with a trailer so I did the best I could and did it first thing in the morning with shade and the sunroof open. Try two lasted 12 hours. Attempt three was after dark, in the shade, and it was 65 degrees over night. attempt three didn't even let me tighten the screws before it fell off. What am I missing? Do I need to scrape the black square of to get down to glass? Should I just go to a windshield shop? I have another trip in a couple of days with the trailer again. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
