rear spoiler help wanted

I have a 2006 LC with what I am pretty sure, has the largest, whale tail spoiler available. Can anyone help decipher what other options there are and when they were available? I would like to downgrade the size. I don't want to go the delete route and have plugged holes etc, or go to the plain flat black one that goes against the window as my rear has the brake light in the spoiler. I have seen a few land cruisers and LX's around with a body color matched spoiler that is clearly smaller, but I can't figure out what year or version I should be looking for. Also, will it mount using the existing holes from my larger version?

I appreciate any and all help. I searched high and low before posting and just cannot find these answers.

I can only show you mine for comparison (on a 1999 LX470)

The 'Whale Tail' spoiler is certainly larger than the black 'wind deflector' that is available, but to me isn't so large that it appears out of scale or ungainly.

I have one too and don't think it's that big. Have you seen the one on the 2006 4Runner? Much larger.

Almost positive there will be extra holes with the whale tail versus the black wing

flintknapper... thanks for the pics, mine is bigger than that! your's is what I want. I'm trying to find a pic because I'm out of town right now for a week. I've seen the one I have on other 06-07 LC's and I think it is factory, but I could be wrong.

here's the only shot on my phone I have showing it...
as you can see mine seems to sit higher than the roofline and curves around it. there is a proper toyota brake light block off plate in place and it doesn't look to be cheap aftermarket, but maybe it is? unlike the pics above, mine doesn't hug the hatch, it has two center support posts if that makes sense.

No question you would need to fill some holes in your present upper hatch if you were to go to the smaller spoiler. Perhaps sourcing a replacement 'upper' would be the easiest and least costly thing to do, I don't know.

Pulling yours would allow you to see what might be involved. It appears yours is not only larger, but also supported in the center. I don't know how many holes are involved. It might be that they can be filled.

I used Gorilla tape to cover the holes in my 'upper' while I stripped and repainted mine. It stayed on very well for the week that it took me. So if you didn't feel like reinstalling yours the same day, you could always do that.

that last pic you just posted is what mine looks like, those center posts are what I was trying to describe, thank you. I may just leave it as is for now and patiently wait to find a new upper hatch. Thank you for all the replies.

is you glass tinted black or bronze? maybe we could trade! I'm looking to eliminate or reduce spoiler size! Mine is white though.

Does anybody know if the spoiler is actually functional? And at what speed? I have the larger one as well, and I'm trying to like it. If its not really doing anything for me, then I think its just gotta go if there is a nice way to delete it, but I'm not sure there is without getting another hatch.

It helps with the dust and appearance, thats about it.

I took my whale tail off ('06 lx470) to better fit a long Yakima box and awning on the roof. When the hatch was about 3/4 opened, the spoiler would hit the box. With the spoiler off, my back window and hatch are absolutely filthy, from the lack of directed wind I assume.

I'm also looking for a replacement, and I like the 4Runner style black wind screenamabob.

Happy to trade or sell the take off white one, but shipping would be a PITA.

DAR spoilers is a decent source .. they sell both the large one like the op has and the smaller one .. I have the smaller one on mine
