Need'n some help with rear shock placement. Swapped in a 60 rear axle, and flipped the springs. Can't relocate the upper shock mounts to the back side the xmember cuz of the gas tank. Rig see's some street use, mainly trails.

My options seem to be to move the lower mount outside the u-bolts on top of the axle. That seems like too much shock angle. On the front of the axle housing, or fab a new crossmember forward of the OEM one and leave the lower mounts on the skid plates (which will probably come off in a year or so anyway.

Suggestions ........................... ???

From your pics....

I would look at mounting them on the front side of the axle, between the ubolts..weld a bracket to the housing, and weld a shock stud/bolt on there, and call it done.

Good luck!

1st set of pics, the mounting bolt orientation is correct...2nd set it's not....

verticle is better, and ahead/behind the axle is a good location.
