I cannot get the inner metal sleeve for the rear shocks off of the posts. When prying hard on the shocks the rubber bushings separated from the shock and remained on the post with the metal sleeve inside. A puller can only grab the rubber as there is no metal to grab on the back. The rubber just tears off.

I spent several hours working on the passenger side. I cut all of the rubber off and tried heating the metal sleeve with a torch. It will not budge.

Current ideas I have are:
1- cutting into the sleeve with a dremel. It would be difficult to not cut into the stud and to cut the sleeve all the way to the back.
2- cutting the entire thing off and welding a new stud on. This would require finding a stud that’s the correct size. I’m not sure how challenging that would be.

Any input is appreciated.

Cut as close as you can (w/ thicker dremel or thin cut off wheel). Then proceed with air chisel. Might need two cuts on opposing sides.

Thanks. That’s what I’m leaning toward as the next step.

Yeah, definitely don't cut off the entire boss. If you cut the entire boss off you'll lose all the structural integrity since it protrudes through and is welded on the opposite end as well. You'd end up with a single shear boss and asking a lot from it. Slice cut the sleeve like Hoser said and work it off.

I would have certainly replaced the entire bolt and welded it from the other side. Thankfully, I was able to get them off with a dremel and cold chisel.

On a semi-related note, I’m also going to need soMe replacement washers for the tops. New from the dealer is pretty crazy expensive. Please let me know if anyone has any they would like to let go.

There are a couple 100 series dismantlers posted up in the part-out section of the classifieds. Might consider giving one of them a ring.
