I want to sleep in my 2001 LX470 with the back hatch open and tailgate down when camping. But the door ajar indicator stays on as do all the interior lights on the door panels etc. How do I disable the door open/ajar sensor for the back hatch/tailgate system?

Ok so I don't have a 100 (yet) but know from experience with my 80 & other cars that you need to push in the latch that catches the pin when you close the hatch, door, etc. when you open the hatch look up at the catch, push it in with a screwdriver, knife, etc until it closes, then your LC thinks the hatch is closed. Just don't forget to pull the handle to "open" the hatch before you try to close it again. Clear as mud?? Hope that helps.

The lights also shut-off automatically after 15-20 minutes... and stay off until you turn your ignition key.

FWIW, the interior lights are on a 30' timer. So they will eventually automatically go off.

My memory is a little fuzzy but the last time I was working on something in the trunk and needed the dome light, after the lights shut-off, I couldn't get them on via opening another door… i think.
