Ok every time we go for a trip the back gets filled with stuff and the speakers are lost in the pile of music absorbing stuff. Has anyone put speaker in the rear doors so you can have stuff and music? Its raining and snowy up here and I dont want to get the doors soaked measuring. I did a search and found nada. so any info would be great.

yes....

6.5" speakers front and rear but it required fabricating custom door panels with custom speaker mounts to accomodate the speaker depth/window regulator. wires were run through existing holes in body and rear door, with some custom fabricated wire pass through grommets to make it all water tight.

if you make your own door panels, you can put just about anything in....

Luke Porter's HJ61 have a sweet set of german component speakers at each door. Very nice sound. I'm targetting 3 pair and a pair of subs for the 62. One for each door and a pair way in the back for tailgate tunes. Going with components when I can save up enough for them. Probably Infinity or MBs.

Try what I did ... our FJ-60 had no rear speakers or cutouts in the rear panels. There were some speaker wires under the rear seats, so I routed them to the back panels with extra speaker wire and attached two computer speakers that were sitting around unused. Some velco attached to the sides of the speakers and to the top of the rear wheel humps keeps them stationary, but with the extra wire they can be placed outside the gate for a party (or in your case on top of your large load) for listening pleasure. Cheap, yet effective!

Thanks for the help guys. Hey MMW68 where in the rear door are they mounted? I like the idea of movable too maybe some boxed speakers up along the rear hatch?

ha i like this guy i did almost the exact same thing in my car but i put in sum recordplayer speakers and wired up. I think they have tweeters/ mid/ and sum bass thing in em so i b thumpin goin down the road. Up front got sum kickers from a guy who didn't know wat he had. can u say 40$ fo 200$ (but they were used) ha

Ok I was looking at the speaker thing agian and a buddy suggested just adding two more speakers. Now my question is how to wire them. If you keep adding speakers inline the ohms will drop and the system will be out of balance or below the acceptable ohms range, what ever that may be. SO any one who knows stereos please speak up and explain the best way to add two more speakers. I have factory speakers and a Panasonic CD/radio.

Baloo, the best scenario for adding a 2nd set of speakers is when your existing stereo unit has built-in outputs for a 2nd set...usually labelled "rear" speakers. Most all modern car stereo dash mounted units have this capability. One clue would be if in the controls there is a function called "fader"...it fades between the front and rear speakers. If your stereo doesn't have rear outputs then yes, if you hooked up a second pair to the existing lines you could have trouble. Car stereo guys can usually just look at a unit and tell you if it has rear outputs. Also, do consider box-mounted speakers for all the above posted reasons.

who needs rear speakers. Get a good front stage and a subwoofer and you're good to go.

volume, sound pressure level

I have a set of crappy, mismatched Panasonics in my tailgate... I will try to post a pic soon.

I have four speakers front & rear factory speakers in factory locations. I would like to add two more speakers to the rear doors for a total of six. I am not sure how to do this, so any help on adding two more for a total of six would be great.

I put a nice set of pioneer tweeters in the posts above the seatbelt bolt. It really allows the sound to get to me since it is right by my head. Totally changed the sound in the truck for the better i might add. Took about 2 hours to do they mount really easily and then just run the wire inside the panel and under the carpet to the hump. I let the thump come from the woofer under my seat.

I put a pair of Boston Acoustics in the rear doors, just used a spacer, they fit fine.(6.5 inch)

Same. Put in 6.5" but had to space em out.

Only prob I've run into though is I have to open the left rear door in order to drop the back seat down. Otherwise the seat locking pin strikes the edge of the speaker. Once the back is down though I can shut the door and the speaker butts right up against the pin.

An in expensive way to add some speakers and keep the load the same at the amplifier is to use a 1st order xover on the speaker. This is simply done by adding a capacitor to the positive side of each speaker. This will change the load the amp sees from a resistive to a capacitive, effectively fooling the amp. The value of the cap should be chosen by the amount of bass you want to pass through to the speaker. The higher the value, the more bass that will be played by the speaker. I would consider about a 470 microfarad capacitor that is designed to operate at voltages over 12V. This will allow plenty of mid bass. It will not effect the mid or high frequencies. The down side to this is that the speaker will be able to play only mid bass and up. The up side is that by wiring a 3rd set of speakers in this way, you add cone area, adding volume without putting a strain on the amp. I would simpily tie the 3rd set to the rear speakers in parallel. Even a decent aftermarket radio can drive this load.

Thanks for the help Waggoner5. I think I can do all of this. I guess the capcitor should be soldered to the + wire on the rear speakers?
